Mzungu es un término de lengua Bantú utilizado en la región de grandes lagos de Africa para referirse a personas de ascendencia europea. De ahí que Wazungu parta estilísticamente de los ritmos africanos que son la base de la música. La banda quiere defender y reivindicar la unión e intercambio de diferentes culturas y un disfrute alternativo de éstas a través de composiciones propias y arreglos originales.
